About Skill Up Psychology
Maria Bailey (she/her) completed her Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental) in 2015 at Monash University.
Maria has also attained Qualifications in Teaching (Secondary) Maria is a Tennis Australia Club Professional Tennis Coach and has played tennis at a State, National and Professional levels and experienced playing College Tennis is the USA. Maria is a parent and has understanding of the today’s challenges and has training Parenting Courses
Maria has a love for nature and adores animals.
Maria has published peer reviewed papers on areas relating to; Psychomotor Ability, Short Term Memory, Reading and Mathematics Achievement in Children, and Physical Activity, Sense of Belonging and Mental Health in Retirees.
Maria utilises a range of evidence based Psychological Interventions which are drawn from many areas but not limited to - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), trauma informed approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitising Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and incorporates strength based and Mindfulness principles.
Maria promotes a caring, collaborative and therapeutic relationship that celebrates diversity, inclusivity, neurodiversity-affirming approach and respectful relationships. Maria is dynamic and passionate about celebrating individual differences. Maria is trained with specific skills and knowledge regarding the development and education across the lifespan and encourages optimal personal wellbeing.
Maria has an extensive experience in Psychology, Tennis, Coaching, Sport and Education. Maria has worked in a variety of settings, including schools, organisations, clubs and currently in private practice.
